Is There An ebay Alternative?

eBay is the biggest online store for buying things. It has a user count of over 99 million! There are approximately 48 million active users. This success is due to its good policies. But of lately many active sellers are leaving eBay and finding alternatives. Is there an eBay alternative? Is is as stable and as reliable as eBay is? Here we will discuss a few such alternatives and also dig into the problem as to why eBay is loosing its sellers.

At eBay a seller is allowed to give only positive feedback about their buyers. This is done in order to get more sales resulting in higher fees. A major chunk is cut from their commission. Especially if international products are shipped, you are in for a major fee cut. This fee becomes a disincentive for any new comer. Why is a seller on eBay? To make money, to have fair dealings and to get popularity. eBay doesn’t allow the sellers to include their website links. (There goes your popularity). There are many other sites that allow Affiliate trading, but eBay beats them due to its shear traffic.

Sellers feel at a loss and are now looking for eBay alternatives. Some alternative are Amazon, eBid, My auction planet, Online auction.com, BiddersnSellers and Cozybug amongst others. Amazon is giving good competition to eBay and is emerging out to be more popular. There is an extra advantage in selling books or CDs on Amazon. Along with the regular listings, your items will also appear. Moreover Amazon also gives a part of the postage price. This can help you in gaining some more commission, howsoever small it may be.

eBid is having a number of websites around the world and it is very easy to join it.
Although sellers are finding alternatives but sometimes they have to wait longer (while dust is collecting on their inventory). On eBay your product is sold quickly because there are millions of users who are seeking it. So even in case as a seller you are tired of eBay’s policies and fees, do not quit it altogether. Wait patiently and surely a solution will come up fast. May be the people at eBay change some rules and give more leverage to the sellers.
Even if you are listed with other small online stores, eventually you may be sitting on most of the inventory while only a fraction of it is getting sold.

Compare Google Analytics, WebTrends and XConversions

The Web Analytics world is full of different types of soft wares which claim to be the best. It is up to you to find the one which suits your need and of course the one which fits your budget.

Web Analytics uses web logs to analyze the data whereas Google analytics uses Javascript which is embedded into a web page. That is why Google analytics cannot track JPEG, GIF, PDF and FLASH files. It cannot capture the spiders. X Conversions new PRO version is equipped with Javascript tracking and PHP tracking. Web analytics is used by many corps and corps do not want to share the data with Google.

Web analytics provides customized options to its customers whereas Google has limited number of customized options. Google collects the data and host it for you but Web analytics can host data on your server also. X Conversion can host data in as many number of servers as you want. Google and X Conversions are easy to implement and consume less time whereas Web analytics consumes a lot of time.

According to a survey done in 2007:

- The number of visitors at Google analytics was 521 and in Web analytics, it was 2132.

- There were 2638 page view in Google analytics and 16287 in Web analytics.

- But 84.9% visitors returned to Google analytics as compared 67% at Web analytics.

It is good to use Google analytics as a tool to track user behavior but Web analytics and X Conversions as a tool for facts and figures.

Your data is secure with Web analytics and X Conversions but you don’t know if Google are looking at your data.

Web analytics has a support of 9 languages whereas Google analytics has a support of 8 languages.

Google is free software but both the Web analytics and Xtreme Conversions come for a price.

Efficient PPC

PPC or Pay-per-click campaigns have always been a tedious task and involve a lot of time and energy. Web Monsters have found solution to build up the speed of PPC campaigns. It is called Efficient PPC, the latest tool developed by Felix Leshno. He has developed an innovative way to do affiliate marketing better and faster. And as the name suggests the software not only delivers quality, it efficiently manages the PPCs. With this you can build high-relevance, high Quality Score Google AdWords within a few seconds resulting in the generation of huge and relevant traffic.

Efficient PPC has an advantage over Speed PPC. Efficient PPC can create multiple campaigns at once, automatically splits large ad groups and large campaigns, has a keyword editor, duplicates the campaigns fast and has automatic campaign error detection. There is an option of automatically dividing the campaign into unlimited Ad groups and eight built in keyword lists.

However Efficient PPC has some drawbacks. In this the campaigns have to be saved first and then uploaded one at a time. Hence the uploading process is rather slow and wearying and cumbersome. It cannot export the saved campaigns to MSN adcenter. Also the Efficient PPC cannot be used with Yahoo Overture and other PPCs like ask.com, Looksmart and Miva.

Felix Leshno, the software developer has to work on the problem of reducing the uploading process.

The Efficient PPC software is priced at US $347 or US $99+$19 (monthly) which makes it competitive in the business, since its equals are more expensive. Some people are of the viewpoint that it is very cheap and a hike in prices would do no harm. In my opinion, Efficient PPC is worth a try since you are getting more advanced features at a low price. This is truly called tech oriented.

Compare Aweber, and Icontact

The soft wares Aweber and IContact deal with e-mail marketing campaigns. But there are some differences in their features. Aweber comes with around 50 HTML e-mail templates whereas in IContact you can find around 300 HTML templates. You can create and customize mail merge fields in IContact. This option helps you in targeting and personalizing your messages to each individual on your list. There is an Integrated What You See Is What You Get (WYSIWYG) HTML editor which Aweber lacks. You can publish a sign-up form to your own page with Aweber. This means that once a visitor your website the program creates a sign-up form so that the turns into a subscriber for you. The visitor can be directed to any page of your web site once they fill up the form. A similar feature is found in IContact. IContact provides you with RSS feeds but with Aweber you can turn your RSS feeds into an e-mail newsletter. There is an advanced feature of 500kb of image hosting included for storing of commonly used images in IContact but Aweber lacks this feature.

IContact has white list agreements with national ISPs to make sure your message makes it to your contact's inbox. Both the servers provide the marketers with a standard spam check feature but personally I think Aweber’s anti spam policy is better. IContact has a feature where small target oriented segments are created based on the criteria set by you. You can then send personalized e-mails to these segments.

There is a live chat option in IContact website but this option is not available to an Aweber subscriber.
AWeber is priced at US $19 for a month if you have a 500 subscriber base whereas IContact is priced at a mere US $9.95 for a monthly subscription with same subscriber base.

The URL shortner application will require a database. You could use Apache Derby and in a series of simple steps obtain your shortner which as you know is a great facilitator.

The Cold Fusion 9 beta offers a host of exciting features. There have been several improvements to various tags, the Cfscript language and the general syntax and coding orientation, the PDF sub systems and Ajax components. The most eagerly anticipated features are the ColdFusion IDE ColdFusion Builder (a codename, Bolt) and ColdFusion 9’s new ORM (object-relational mapping) system.

The Cold Fusion builder 9 is one of the most significant developments from Adobe. This has been created on the back of the well known Eclipse that is the power behind dozens of well known IDEs. The Cold Fusion builder 9 gives you the facility of setting up multiple servers. The code views also have toolbars on offer which are able to provide quick access to commonly used fusion tags, HTML and CSS features.

Cold Fusion builder also incorporates a line debugger. Another set of notable features is the convenient code and content assistance along with syntax checking. All in all Cold Fusion is yet another example of the quicksilver response we have come to expect from Adobe. Not only do they take care of past lacunae, they are also able to anticipate future challenges and take remedial measures. And the thoughtful add-ons that they use to embellish their offerings make the wait for the next offering even more fruitful. In Cold Fusion as in all its other products Adobe has come up with an ace, and as users realize the full scope of its applications the accolades will not stop flowing. Until the next offering from Adobe, that is.
